Sandeep Gupta is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota.

Education

• M.B.B.S/M.D. from Government Medical College Nagpur, India.

• Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Nephrology from University of    Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA.

Research Interest

Working with Dr. Mark E. Rosenberg, their lab has isolated and characterized a multipotent renal progenitor cell (MRPC) from adult kidneys that has self-renewal and broad differentiation properties.

Current research focus of his laboratory is on:

  1.  Determination of the stem cell niche in the adult kidneys.
  2. Proteomics of the renal stem cells.
  3. Stem cell lineage progression towards renal phenotype.
  4. Therapeutic use of stem cells for kidney diseases.

Publications in preparation

  • Characterization of the renal stem cell niche in the adult kidney.
