Frontier Issues in Research Ethics

Frontier Issues in Research Ethics header

These two national conferences to be held at Coffman Union Theater, University of Minnesota, on March 8-9, with workshops in the afternoon of March 9, bring together renowned speakers from a variety of disciplines to address how informed consent ethics and policy have developed over the past century and what tools are needed to improve patient and research protections going forward. Discussion will include recent changes to the Common Rule governing research, including changes on informed consent and broad consent.

Trainings and workshops will provide concrete, actionable and hands-on approaches to the everyday challenges of properly conducting research with human participants.

Separate registration (found on main registration page) is required for each of the three "Frontier Issues in Research Ethics" events:

  • March 8 (8:30am - 5pm): The Future of Informed Consent in Research and Translational Medicine: A Century of Law, Ethics & Innovation
  • March 9 (8:30am - 1pm): Annual Research Ethics Day: The Challenges of Informed Consent
  • March 9 (1:30-5PM): Annual Research Ethics Day: Trainings and Workshops
